Phelps 18 gold - Argentina 17 gold

Tandil got 2 tennis players in the top 10 in the world, maybe there are some facilities there?

Those facilities are there in Argentina, the main problem is parents don't motivate there children to reach for the stars.
The facilities are nothing like they are in countries like the US, UK, China, Australia (though bad Olympics this one), not even close.

Nor is the funding or upkeep of school sports facilities. You obviously haven't spent much time in the US or similar higher funding countries.

Nor is the funding or training of coaches, often to follow a nationally planned regime for certain sports so everyone is training with the same methodology.

I am born and raised in one of those higher funding countries which is probally going to finish first in ratio amount of habitants : Gold medals

Then you obviously had very little to do with sports.

Anyway, I'm done with this thread. You've filled it with criticisms about "hot air", and yet I've provided plenty of links and information, you obviously refuse to do any actual research into the subject yourself nor provide any links/evidence in support of your own view. So not really interested any more, anyone with any common sense understands what the actual situation is with regards to money/funding and sporting success, you can continue to believe what you will.

Adios!

Zabaleta - 21
Del Potro - 4
Monaco - 10
Gonzalez - 58
Perez Roldan - 18
Junqueira - 68

Highest ATP position

Habbitants = 100.000

Really, an exeption :)

As expected...

Holland spend 40.000.000 euros this year on London 2012 = Result 5 gold medals, 15 medals so far(with probally another 4 medals coming)

I will rest my case :)
