Seeking advise on a "touchy topic"

I wouldn't pay him either, but I guess if you feel strongly about paying him, the least you should do is deduct the amount of money he stole.

Like everyone is saying, do not make enemies.

Carry on with life...

Actually, I fear the wrath of God ( for withholding a poor person's money) more than the police or hooligans chasing me.

And I guess, I need to take the abuses I got in my stride!

You do not want the police at your place under any circumstance.

Interestingly, the employee got robbed in Capital federal not long ago! was mugged in day time at 3 pm on a crowded street in CF !

When the employee approached the police, the police laughed it off and said they can not do any thing to help!

They really can't. It's not that they do not want. Not allowed to.
It's a long depressing story.

if you didn`t worry about the money when you first realised this, just pay this week. make him sign something stating he got payed everything that was owed to him. and that he is ok with that.

Living here is like living in combat (and I know a bit about that). You need to know to keep your head down. A low profile is always good.

No, you don't want the police, AFIP, or anyone like that at your apartment or place of work for any reason!

I agree mostly. Except, its never good to show the opponent, you are so worried about it or that you are living in a glass house, which can be shattered any moment. Henceforth, I will do whatever you like! Its important to show some guts though you may be very worried from inside.

Ok, the employee says,

I will not sign anything as we have no paper work.

Just leave my money with the guard and I will collect it.

No need to meet again.

sounds like it has resolved itself. I think there is no use in any of us telling you what you should have done when you first found the employee stealing 50 pesos, but it sounds like you are good person and wanted to give him/her a second chance.

that person abused your trust and would have continued to do so. I'm not sure i would have paid the 500 pesos, but I think it made YOU feel better and that is worth the money.
you acted with integrity and even though they stole from you still honoured your obligations. chalk it up to a lesson learned and sleep well at night.

500 pesos to get this person out of your life (and worries) is pretty cheap.

.

yes, I hate poverty and when i see people struggling with money. I always like to help as much as I can.

But people take you for granted!

Yes. Don't mis-construe "keeping your head down" for being a push-over. The two are not the same.
