So, according to the recently released Hotels.com Club Sandwich Index, at least one item dropped in price since last year here in BA. :)

But really, who pays US $10.37 for a club sandwich in BA?

Seems a FAIR price $80 pesos for a Club Sandwich in a 5 star place!! a tostado can run up to $45 pesos or more anywhere in BA.

Dolar Oficial!!!

Casino Puerto Madero has a club sandwich. It's really good when they don't overdo the mayonnaise. Because it's an expensive place I'd think it would be comparable to the expensive versions around town. Last time I ordered it (last month) it was in the mid 90s.

It's not the smartest index anyway for a traveller to determine the "costs associated with their destination of choice": club sandwich are not a very common food in most countries of the world, so when they are offered, it's typically in more upscale places/hotels targeting the US traveller and thus often more expensive then "regular" local food. But hey, we make a statistic because we can, not because it makes sense ;)

Most indexes are unreliable, here the government asks McDonald's to price their Big Macs differently and separately just to alter the international perception of Argentina. In the US the government manipulates unemployment rates by changing what is considered unemployment. I think that the only objective things would be like the cost of a coke (which is skewed becuase soda is so much more expensive here and in Europe than it is in North America), the cost of a local newspaper, or the cost of a regular cup of coffee.

At least they got the mayonnaise with the fries just the same here. *shakes head*
ahh but you haven't lived until you experienced Quebec poutine (also eaten with mayo by some) ;)
