Typical Street Scene - Photo I Took Today

Why are images of certain parts of the anatomy considered "vulgar"? I suppose some people consider a peek at a woman's ankle to be vulgar and hence the need for the burka.

Well, at least for me, bringing children to adult spaces and forcing the rest of the people there to deal with them shows a total disregard for the rest of the society. I'm perfectly fine with you being joyful and complete, now mind your kid, keep him close, still and silent, and then we can have a peaceful coexistence.[/quote]

Agreed Guillo - my kids are my badge that I wish for a kid-friendly, sexually appropriate outside environment. How about you guys, Lee etc get some t-shirts printed so we know how to avoid you and keep the peace? I may wish to buy one on those days when the kids get too much for me...:D

I guess there is no right answer for that. In my case, I don't consider any part of the body to be vulgar per se. It all depends on context. Now take a look at those butts in the OP's picture and tell me if you find that tasteful...I know it's subjective, but..... Would you like your daughter to pose like that?

And about your ankle and the burka guess... I don't think it is a matter of vulgarity or not - and you know it too.;)

So when I read about banning or forbidding stuff, red alarm lights start to light up. We've already been through that during the military governments era.

Ok. So when they ban smoking, red alarms go off for you. When you can't park your car because it says prohibido estacionar, another alarm goes off? How about when movies are rated R? Geez... you must be so stressed... all those alarms going off :p

It is called ORDER Guillo, turn the alarm off. No military breathing down your neck. ORDER makes your life (and everyone else's) easier.

And again, you equate a picture of a set of tits with something causing physical damage. A picture of lady in few clothes doesn't hurt anyone. It's only troublesome for you because of your values.

Walk the Las Vegas Strip lately? Took some Argentine friends for a stroll there and even I was embarrassed. That takes some doing.:) BA stuff is innocent in comparison.

Everybody expects this from Las Vegas, that's what the place is all about. Not exactly typical US. I don't see how anyone can think that the porn magazines and handouts are exactly a good influence for kids. I know, I know....some people are going to say how much worse it is in the US....

I don't think anyone said it was good for the kids. What it was said was that its unavoidable, and rather than spending effort to try to get it banned, you should rather educate your kids.

I don't know what values you think I have and you obviously don't want to understand. Anyway, it doesn't matter cause it is obvious we don't see eye to eye and we are not as open minded as we thought...

Just wanted to share one thing with you and I promise I won't bother you anymore:

I just thought that maybe those parents whose kids you can't stand (those with no limits) might suffer from the same "trauma" you have. They don't impose limits on their kids because they probably have your same mindset (limits, order, discipline = military dictatorship). You have become a victim of your own values... funny, isn't it?

Anywyay, thanks for not bringing your kids into this world and thanks for this interesting debate.

Chau Guillo.

I really don't know what values you have, and I really don't care as long as you don't try to impose them on the rest of the world. Otherwise, I'm fine.
Not thinking the same doesn't mean I don't want to understand, just that I don't share your values. Plurality and all, you know.
I'd think its more laziness and total disregard for the rest what moves those parents, probably mixed with a bit of exhaustion.
