Welcome To The Dictatorship Of Happiness

Likewise confused.

Could they be recalling Menem's relaciones carnales, which involved Argentine troops being sent to Kuwait in Gulf War I? Are they saying it with irony, eg. "Macri's so beholden to the US that we will now be sending troops to the Mideast"? Or are they hoping it will happen?

Also, tangentially, Colombia, the South American country with closest relations to the US, has mercenary soldiers in Yemen. Maybe they think Cambiemos will re-position Argentine foreign policy along the same lines?

Clarification please.

I am not saying anything.

Thats what my Argie friend said with sarcasm.

basically not happy with Macri's win and fearing :-

[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Macri's [/background]so beholden to the US[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)] that we will now be sending troops to the Mideast[/background]

Cuenta regresiva. Cuantos días faltarán para que Argentina mande tropas para combatir al iSIS?

So I wanted to hear the opinion of the experts here..As I was myself dumbfounded by that comment.

Well Taken Ed..... I believe they will retrain some of the Old Montoneros now unemployed K members to fight on the ISIS side?

All that comment proves once again is that there is a big portion of the Argentine population that thinks in extremes (EDIT: To clarify, same thing happened with the other side when CFK was in power).

Yesterday Macri was busy talking to Putin to strengthen trade and bilateral relations between the two countries. I guess you could ask your friends if they wonder when Argentines will be sent to Syria to fight for Assad?

One of the steps taken by the current administration was talks with China to be able to convert Yuans to Dollars, again, speaks to bilateral relations. Maybe your friends are also wondering when Macri is going to send Argentines to fight Tibetan monks?

Or could it be that your friends are simply so anti-Macri (and anti American) that these silly comments are all they can come up with without any basis in reality (so far, I mean its only been 8 days, for crying out loud).

Indeed, sometimes it seems here like many people are still stuck in a binary Cold War time warp.

Macri Gringo Golpista!

CFK Venezuela Commies!

Vulture Funds Plan Condor!

Kirchner Montonero Fidel Castro!

In some ways it's kind of quaint, like a trip to one of those kitchy Mediaeval Faires; in other ways it's excessively tiresome.

Since there are only kurds fighting face to face against isis, I don't understand what argies wanted to say. Argentina for now (and in my opinion never) can't help with anything in this war but canon fodder...

My response to your friend would be, "Que tropas?"
