The cuevas and AFIP have an agreement and staged a "crackdown" Friday to make it look like they were doing something.

I wonder how many AFIP employee's are getting dollars at official rates and wandering down to florida to sell them at the blue rate....

I'd place money on quite a few government employees making bank on the blue rate. I know they're doing it in Venezuela.

The AFIP guys then have a lot in common with the Perma-Tourists.

Someone is betting there is a big devaluation in our future. Question is when will the Blue hit 15 or 20?

I have to wonder who the hell is on the other side of these currency trades... they're going to lose their shirts.

The Blue Rate is overvalued. The government is scaring people with talks of further intervention into treating the dollar like a fetish object. If the currency restrictions were removed, i.e. one rate like in grown-up countries, the rate would be around 7 or 8. The government through artificial restrictions is creating a bubble mentality.

The operative phrase is "If the currency restrictions [are] removed."

Nice chart. I made some numbers based on the devaluation rate we have been seeing:

I think the numbers on ft chart are a little high. I expect (again, my opinion) that in one year we are going to be seeing a peso valued in 1 usd = 7,5 ars. Probably by that time (may 2014) the blue is going to be at 14, unless in october everything goes to hell and we reach that value sooner. Who knows, we will just have to wait and see.
