Yeah, we thought Japan paid for occuping Korea for centuries at the 1965 recompensation ceremony and the head honchos of the two contries shook hands, but now they want more!
I tend do agree with the assessment that most of the time, it is the Koreans that keep playing the victimhood card. It is politically very expedient (just like the Malvinas issue here).
However, some Japanese do not help either, by publishing history books that either minimize or deny the atrocities committed during the occupation, or when some jackass conservative comes out and tries to justify the occupation as some type of "merciful act"from Japan. So both countries are assholes in this dispute, although I think the South Koreans are the bigger assholes.
