Buenos Aires Needs A Red Light Zone

Tex, What about us gigolos (call us man-whores as you like) who ply our trade in the milongas and dance halls of Argentina seducing foreign women with our dancing prowess bringing badly needed dollars and euros into the country. Would you ban our livelihood as well, or is the ban only for female prostitutes? How am I to pay for my daily Fugazzetta?

Perhaps a magic spell?

...give us this day our daily fugazzetta??

Joe: Don't say .. are you proposing an Argentine state subside for "Taxi Boy" industry?
Please don't use your daily Fugazzetta as an excuse .

Where do you get that fugazzeta, with so much cheese?

The problem is that most sex workers, the grand majority, are either tricked into becoming sex workers, or they are forced into it. Most people in this country have been forced into it

Total bollocks! ha ha

So many college girls who want to have a iphone, Samsung galaxy 3 or travel to punta del este in summers..no one is putting a gun on their head. they just want a easy way and fast way to make money and mostly they work independently and have a right to decline clients.

Don't say that or Tex is going to want to ban Fugazzetta as well!
Ban on DolarBlue & Fuggazzetta ...when too much is too much?

But Joe: .. are you proposing a state subside for Argentine "Taxi Boy" industry?
Please don't use your daily Fugazzetta as an excuse .

sleslie, here is where I depart from the right wing in the U.S. I do in fact also experience great outrage for other economical and social injustices, and believe steps should be taken to make them right. In fact, I thought you've often made some insightful comments about a couple of these things on this forum that I agree with. For whatever reason, in the US these days we have become like Argentina: completely divided. You are either a K or you are not, or you are either a democrat or republican, if you stand in this box then I must be opposed to you. I am not your enemy, and you may not think that way, but from your posts, it definitely sounds like you are looking at me like I am your enemy. It is possible to disagree with people without them being your enemy, and without insulting them.

Tex, I'm sure that you and I agree on many more things than we disagree on. However, growing up in TX/NM/OK I've experienced first hand the hypocracy of so-called Christians, especially when it comes to prohibitions of certain human behaviors. Unfortunately, I can't just chalk it up as "agreeing to disagree." In the US it results in HORRIBLE policy decisions. Making prostitution illegal, like the prohibition of marijuana, makes criminals out of people who participate in certain behaviors, yet those behaviors inevitably continue underground which makes them much more dangerous to the people participating in them.

I don't have a dog in the hunt. I don't visit prostitutes, nor do I consume marijuana. However, I have seen the societal problems that criminalization of those behaviors has caused. You've already mentioned that this is moral issue for you. Although you may not be specifically responsible, people with positions similar to yours ARE responsible for basing policy on said morality despite overwhelming evidence that PROHIBITION DOES NOT WORK. If it does work, why are so many women arrested for prostitution? If it works, why are prisons full of so many people convicted on marijuana-related charges.
