Whilst they unequivocally were allies of Thatcher who faced pressure from Socialists and CDN campaigners at home, Britain was always a more important strategic ally than the unhinged loonies in Argentina. Winning the war saved the neck of la pirata, Argentina winning would have had more severe implications in Europe than the US would have stomached.
It's not always about Argentina!
An Argentine victory would have had far more serious consequences for Argentina - an institutionalized military terror state - and Argentina's neighbors. You could almost have guaranteed a shooting war with Chile.
