Fibertel Internet Speed

Ah thanks Paul. So basically, when Fibertel tell me they guarantee a minimum 580 kB/s download speed on the 6 megas, the 6 megas refers to 600 kb/s.

But then, when I use the www.speedtest.net, I should be aiming for 5.8 mb/s (ie that would be the equivalent benchmark of Fibertel)?

I did say I was an Amateur :p

And let's not forget the common mistake of MB and Mb which I think Paul is referring to.
Most of us talk about Megabytes (or at least we used to until gigabytes arrived lol).
MB = Megabyte
Mb = Megabit
30 Mb Fibertel Evo is just over 3MB as Paul says.
Not too shabby, but there is a popular misconception.
Or 12 megabits=1.5 megabytes.

@Gringoboy; Yes that is what I am referring to. However the factor is not 8x but about 10x. This has to do with the overhead in the protocols used.
