Is The Piropo A Dying Art ?

It's an open secret that Joe used to be a rapper before he came to Buenos Aires.

When you grow up in the City of Compton, there ain't nothin else.

I once drove into Compton:
I was living in LA in 1986 and working in a balloon store in Westwood. I would do many deliveries and one time, I am told to go to Compton at 8 pm in winter (dark already). I had no idea where Compton was, never went there. Called a friend, told him and he laughed so hard.
Anyway, here I am driving the old VW combi inside Compton. A red light, I stop, look on my right: two black guys staring at me, hello (candid face on)!

Damn, I left California with so many unpaid traffic tickets!

I think it's like racism, you need to have the experience of racism as a victim to understand it better (unlikely if you're a white WASP who doesn't travel much for instance). Most guys have not lived such an experience (being considered like a sexual object or whatever by someone you really don't want to talk to).

I've received many piropos from portenos in my 15 years in Buenos Aires, and not one of them was crude.

Women cringe when walking past a construction site in an American city because they expect a worker to yell a crude comment their way. That doesn't happen here in BsAs.

I disagree. It's just as bad or worse. I'm wondering what makes you think the construction workers here have good etiquette?

The dude is offering to do everything to her except lifting her up :p
You'll get it if you know what gordita means

Gordita te hago de todo menos Upa..!!

Hi, thanks for your interpretation...!! I know what UPA means and also Gordita, but couldn't make sense out of it since Gordita is also an endearing term . So its an irony a tongue-in-cheek comment ..!!

I interpeted it as: Dear, I'll do everything to you except lifting you up...!!?? made no sense?

You interpreted it as; Chubby , I'll do whatever to you, except lifting you up? :D
