To me, the places you mention are extra-continental territories. It's geopolitics. My point is strictly geographical.

In Asia, (where I grew up), we are taught in schools that America is USA, not Puerto Rico or Argentina which actually have their own country names.

FYI: Puerto Rico is a possession of the US, not an independent country. All Puerto Ricans are citizens of the United States of AMERICA.

Nothing is simple, indeed. Now where on earth do we place the República Oriental del Uruguay which becomes the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, prehaps Uruguay is a secret part of China? And what about American Samoa. I guess they belong to American Airlines? Or maybe Canada.

What are you going to do if and when a "Progressive President" issues an executive order (in the name of an emergency following the turmoil you expect) that makes it illegal for US citizens to own gold?

And if you are really a BAexpat (actually living in Argentina) how are you going to convert your stocks into physical gold when you really need it (when no one will accept paper money)?
