After reading the articles that Napoleon posted, it sounds like this whole thing is a cocktail of nastiness: left wing violent marxists and leninists, perhaps some element with the U.S. embassy, drug dealers from all over the world, a corrupt and inept government, and wealthy political interests. Sounds like Argentina on steroids. I doubt that even if the chavista administration is ousted, that Venezuela is going to see any improvements over the next few years. But what we do know to be true that there is at least some violence from police and the government towards citizens, incited by the government or not. And we also know that the right to private property is not respected in Venezuela at all. Those two things are facts we know.
