Morality? I was talking about your taxes comment, nada más. And FYI - I don't evade taxes. One, I pay taxes each time I buy purchase something from the grocery store. Two, I work here LEGALLY and DO have taxes taken out of my paycheck every single month. Three, I pay taxes on the property I own here.

Anyways, this thread has strayed way off topic. The original point of it was that many find it disturbing that some 30+ year old men here date girls in their early to mid teens.

what happens in Argentina is happenning all over the world, although here is easier to spot as the application of the law (in all aspects) is less strict. same thing happens with appallling driving and excess drinking (10 yrs ago you would have not heard about alcohol being a problem here, no one drank much at all, especially young kids! but now that it is a problem you can see the law is not applied in a strict manner so it is more visible.

as for habits -that is not to be confused with under age sex- in latin societies (inc italy, spain) it is common to see divorcees with girlfriends much younger, sometimes their kids' age, but now in anglo saxon societies you can see the opposite, older women looking great, preferring much younger boyfriends...

Anyways, this thread has strayed way off topic. The original point of it was that many find it disturbing that some 30+ year old men here date girls in their early to mid teens.

it's been entertaining watching my original point going off into numerous tangents. As you say, I posted very specifically about 13-16 year old girls with much older men and where, generally from what I could tell, money and the status of the guy was of absolutely minimal importance. I was never talking about the demi/ashton situation which is a whole world away from the point I was making. But it's been a fun read anyway, even the abortion rants.

here are a few of the situations I remember and one thing I will say...not one of these situations took place in recoleta or palermo or any other "nice" expat barrio. They were all in the grimmer concrete barrios of gran buenos aires...the likes of lanus, avelleneda, bella vista, etc

cleaner of my first apartment - niece was 15, bf was 23 I think
cleaner of my second apartment - daugher was 16, bf was around 29. She didn't see a problem with it.
ex gf - her sister was the one I mentioned at her 15th birthday with a 32 year old bf arriving to be with her...surrounded by her 20 or so 15 year old friends.
girl I did intercambio with - lost virginity at 14 with a 27 year old...went on to be gf/bf for a year
another intercambio girl - sister was 15 at time, bf of 21/22
current gf - sister at 15 had a bf of around 24 or so, who also tried it on with my current gf....when she was 9!
one or two others, but you get the picture.

BTW, I was never looking to pontificate, only to understand. Hat tip to bajo cero and others for trying to help me do just that.

Most extreme situation of which I am aware was in Wilde, which is definitely out in the provencia about as far from Recoleta or the northern suburbs as you can get....She was 17 he was 70. He was diagnosed with cancer two years later and died within six months. She was pregnant at the time.. She stayed with him to the end....took care of his every need after he was bedridden. Their daughter was born shortly after his death. That was 10 or 11 years ago. She still speaks about him often in loving terms. My background is such that I would probably have considered him a pervert if I hadn't heard her tell the story and seen the love in her eyes. I do not pretend to understand it but if it worked for them.....
