I've been noticing the surprising amount of Texans living in Argentina, or coming here for a while, or being a part of this community. I was really amused when I ran into this.

Makes me think of why so many of us find our way down here? Is there an unspoken correlation?

Will be buying.

An American girl I know who's half Mexican, lived in Texas some growing up (but NYC now), visits the Yucutan frequently, and has a (half) sister living in Brazil told me 4-5 years ago:

It's fitting that you're in Argentina, because Argentina is like the Texas of Latin America.

That soooo true, except that it's not. It doesn't make any more sense than saying Buenos Aires is the Paris of South America. As a current, though temporary, resident of Texas, I can provide you as many anecdotes of why that is a falsehood as you can stand to read.

Climate wise SE TX and Argentina are strikingly similar... although things are milder in the land of mate and lack of common sense. The beef related similarities are to be expected. Overall there are many correlations but I can understand that many other things aren't as fitting.

Argentina has Cristina, and Texas has Rick Perry. I'm glad not to have either of them in California.

Assuming that we're comparing Argentina to Texas and not Buenos Aires to Austin, there are as many similarities between Argentina and California. Where is the Texas wine region? And the skiing?

Mediocre beaches? Hey, we have a match. Carilo is the Padre of South America.

Houston is more comparable to Asunción than Buenos Aires:

I didn't look up Austin. I don't want to know.

No i m curious, néxt time i come to the US, i m going to spend a few days in Texas.

On the other side, i can assert that argentines like tex mex food.
