Threads that turn personal.

Anecdotally i meet expats occasionally who have heard of the forum or who used to use it but now do not. Mostly the reasons are the overbearing arguments about politics (local and international) and the way things get personal and needlessly aggressive.

Seems to me there used to be more useful exchange of information or discussion about local issues and less soapboxing about US politics, I mean, there are lots of forums out there that cater to that sort of thing. Lots of good contributors have definitely called it a day. I know we're making fun of people asking about Kale, but really I would rather read about where to buy bloody Kale than listening to some windbag giving us chapter and verse on US politics. I know I am in the minority, and have took the bait on occasion but I am trying to keep it local where I can now.

But seriously - I am sometimes amazed about the patience you seem to have in political discussions. Posting facts, arguments, visions, theories etc. in response to users who sometimes don't seem to either have the capacity, willingness, or attention span to process and understand your posts.

Thats because Im a good guy, yes patient and peaceful. I already recognised who is whom in these discussions, and what they do doesnt go anywhere, they just want to mess up things, to provocate, to offend, etc. I pretty much dont care what they say, I know they are trolling. I think I ll let them say what they want from now on, since I realised they dont want an exchange of opinions and to learn from another perspective but to ofend. And courioulsy I m not ofended.

I also write to other people who read and are interested, not to them. At some point I like them angry with me, and how they spice things up with agressive comments. I think In some place they comfort me, they make me feel better.
