What is the food you miss most from "home?"

I'm tempted to not even bother since you say you miss taco bell....

Oh well. Good sheep's milk feta (and other hard to find food items) can be found at El horno del medioriente, on the corner of Garay & Alberti

THANK YOU!!!!!

Re: taco bell -- the heart wants what it wants. I recognize that it can be hardly called mexican food (or even food for that matter) but that doesn't mean I dont miss the hell out of it late at night or when Im nursing a brutal resaca.

We were talking about fried chicken, but you most certainly can make good pie crusts with lard.

Although you can make much better ones with butter.

My mom always made pie crusts with Crisco. I remember telling her on more than one occasion that the pie crusts that she made were better than the ones that any my friends moms made, she always replied with the comment that the pie crusts her grandmother made when she was a teenager (100 years ago) were SO much better.

I now consume meals each day and I use beef tallow to prepare one of them.

At about noon I scramble four extra large farm fresh eggs (with brillanly orange yolks) in about one tablespoon of beef tallow (aka: lard) in a round plancha de hierro. After cooking, I melt about a teaspoon of butter on top of the eggs, add a couple punches of sal rosada himalaya and eat the eggs directly the parrilla while they are still hot.

Four to five hours later, I cook two patamuslos de pollo in an air fryer without ever adding oil of any kind or coating the chicken in any type of batter or bread crumbs.

My tastes buds became sufficiently "modified" within 30 days of starting to eat only meat and eggs on a daily basis. As a result, I have no cravings whatsoever for anything else, so I no longer "miss" any of the foods from home, not even my mom's homemade pies.

PS: My mom actually became a teenager 97 years ago (not 100 as previously indicated).
