Re: taco bell -- the heart wants what it wants. I recognize that it can be hardly called mexican food (or even food for that matter) but that doesn't mean I dont miss the hell out of it late at night or when Im nursing a brutal resaca.

No, you are completely wrong, olive oil will not work fine for fried chicken. Crisco as mentioned by a GS dirt boy is an option, but for true southern fried chicken, use lard.

We were talking about fried chicken, but you most certainly can make good pie crusts with lard.

Although you can make much better ones with butter.
