Windows 7 where to buy in BA?

back to the original question: I think CompuMundo sells it, you can also find it at the Galleria Florida on Florida Street but I forget the address. Also, check Mercado Libre (http://mercadolibre.com.ar), you can find all sorts of computer stores with ads there. Pick one in your neighborhood and call to see if they have Windows 7.

If you want the English UI you can either order it from the US or buy Windows Ultimate and download the MultiUser Interface (MUI) via Windows Update as described here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/How-do-I-get-additional-language-files.

Dear All., Since 2 months I am part of this community and I am amazed at how a simple question always triggers such a heated debate about another issue!!!! The question was "Do you know where to buy a window 7", right!!! did anybody asks where the black market is!!!
the other day I read a post from a newcomer wanting to just say hi and introduce herself, and she was aso looking for a nanny, what followed was bunch of replies about did she or did she not make a good decision in coming to this terrible country!!!
Sorry just an observation ;)
have a great day

Yeah a Mac or Linux. Both are better than Windows. Why pay for it when you can download it for free anyways? Paying Microsoft money is actually a far worse act than pirating it.

Well if you use your computer for any kind of online banking, shopping or exchanges of personal information, I would want to know the operating system I use is free of any hidden viruses or trojans. If you start out using a pirated operating system, you have no idea what is going on under the hood and has been changed. And Microsoft won't provide you with security updates that help keep your computer clean in the future. Are all the risks and future hassles worth saving $99?

A Mac may be better for some (i too use and prefer Mac over Windows PCs) but they cost an absolute fortune. Windows 7 is very capable and the significant improvements in both speed and performance make it a very reasonably priced upgrade.

That's how conversations tend to develop on both forums and everywhere else. The original question was answered though. :) It's difficult (if not impossible) to find the English language version of Windows 7 in retail stores. If you can find a copy of the most expensive Ultimate edition though, Microsoft provides access to the English Language Pack via software update.

And btw - not only was the original question answered, but someone suggested as an ANSWER to the original question to go buy it off the street as a pirated version, like many do anyway. Very germane to the discussion, in my opinion, although admittedly I might have gone too far afield in talking about intellectual property in general.

Then you shouldn't use Windows. Doesn't matter if it's pirated or not, it's always very unsafe.

Nonsense. As long as you are sensible, Windows is perfectly safe. I have used Windows since 3.1 and the only problems were a result of my stupidity. If you don't install random unknown software you find scattered across the web, open unexpected email attachments or surf dodgy porn sites, and keep your software updated with security fixes, you'll be fine.

What I would say is a Mac is safer for less tech savvy computer users. Because it's built on Unix and is locked down a lot better out of the box. And also, hackers don't target it nearly as often because the market dynamics determine Windows is the OS you want to go after.

I'm soooo happy I switched to Mac on October 2008. multilingual OS and apps.(no need to restart the Mac), multilingual correction tools, etc. I have a 32 Gb partition with XP for the "few" pieces of software that are only Windows based and, each time I go there, I absolutely hate it.

True, but how many people are that sensible? And how about when someone borrows your computer?
It's like saying as long as you are street smart you won't get mugged in Buenos Aires.

Beware of analogies - they can seem correct but can often be misleading.
