You Know You're Living In A 3Rd World Country When...

What surprises me is that you can see a guy driving in a Porsche Cayenne (or whatever extremely expensive car) passing a slum or passing a family with horse and buggy (or whatever you call these, I´m no native English speaker)......and I keep on thinking: does this guy in the Porsche not feel any shame?

Actually what my (local) husband can't stand is that no one here can own a Porsche or other luxury car without always worrying about it if it's in the street. In fact in most places one simply can't leave it in the street at all. He complains that in this country it's becoming more and more difficult to own nice things simply because of the fact they will most likely be badly treated by others, or outright stolen. (To clarify, we do not own a luxury car. However we were given an iPad as a gift from my mother when we were back in Canada, and I feel that we really can't take it out of the house or use it in public -- it feels like flashing one's "wealth")

I've finally figured out why I don't like the general atmosphere of this site. It's because it's filled with filthy rich libertarian yankees who are just living in a country that they seem to hate because it's cheap for them. Meanwhile the actual Argentinians are seeing the peso devaluing and it is getting harder and harder to survive in their own country. Argentina is not the United States. People are in poverty because the government and economy are in shambles. Don't blame the people -whose country you are exploiting for your own personal luxury- for not "working hard enough" for success...I'm pretty sure that no matter how hard you work in this country, you still don't get paid according to inflation..
You guys are why everyone hates North Americans, because of your selfish, small-minded, anti-socialist, miserable, hateful and lonely opinions of the world around you. I for one am making it a goal upon moving to Argentina to not talk with any Americans if I can help it and not speak English. I speak castellano, I'm friends with locals, why in the hell would I ever want to associate myself with such a miserable group of people. Sure, I like things about my American culture, because it's my own. But that doesn't mean I'm going to move here and start getting all bitter and imperialist about it.

Argentina is a 2nd world country that has been in the first world that why the pesimism here, you people have to travel more really, say argentina is a 3erd world lol. I do agree that the political desitions lately has show a 3erd world caracterization

It's like a first world country but with a third world mentality.

You're not living in Argentina? And earning devaluating pesos? Then how can you know what it's like. Yes, it's true that there are many wealthy foreigners that live here because it's cheap for them, but there are others who live here and earn in pesos and deal with all the same political crap that the locals do.

:) You poor poor thing.....i'm sure you'll find out that the Argentines are a truck load of laughs!!! all happy happy joy joy hahahaaha ,Come down and live here for 5 years, then maybe you can have an educated opinion......... we had people like you in this forum before..... they are not longer here....they just vanished before actually coming around to the idea or knowledge that many things we talk about here are right on the money..... but then again you've already passed judgement on all of us..and some don't appreciate being prejudged before hand, myself being one of them.So , if that's gonna be your attitude ..... que te garue finito pelotudo pero con toda la onda viste?

You know you're living in a third world country when you have 30/40% inflation, populist government that buys votes with choripans, flags and cash handouts, neighbouring countries that have less resources but way advanced economies, broken spirited people from hopelessness of inadequate governments... hopefully this will all change if they get away from Peronism, or get an Englishman to run the country.
