Are Argentine Women More Feminine?

Thanks you Gringoboy for stepping in with some rational amidst testosterone filled debate with matching graphics. As an (I like to believe feminine woman) I can see where the post originates as I feel as foreign to a pint swilling (maybe tattooed/overweight/badly dressed) ladette as anyone. To my own mind and as a generalism across the Argentinean younger women I know 0-40 are stunning, coquettish, stylish feminine beauties who take pride in honing skills that augment their female selves (cooking, makeup, dancing, hair styling etc).My narrow field of over 40s are anorexic/plastic surgery/porn star look obsessed insecure paranoiacs who in spite of their careers (Lawyers accountants etc) model and judge themselves by their looks. The former is lovely and the latter sad but it's cause and effect in action.Im loving being a sex feminine mama in Spain where being over 40 is "allowed".

Ever since men were emasculated in the 70s it's getting difficult to define feminine. So comon guys stop looking at asses and boobs and get in touch with your feminine side. Opps I forgot, all of feminine ladies here are checking out each others asses and boobs too.

Those of you who find Argentines better dressed need to take the bus more. I just got off the 68. Everyone on the bus was wearing tank tops or wrinkled t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops. There were a few guys wearing collared shirts and one or two pour souls wearing suits who obviously coming from work. People may dress up to go out in Palermo Hollywood (that I will grant you), but most people here just wear whatever happens to land on their body. ESPECIALLY when it's hot.

Edit: This is not a complaint, by the way. I too tend to "dress down."

It depends on what your definition of "feminine" is. To me, it's about more than what you wear or how you walk. I suppose I hold the traditional belief that 'feminine' is being kind, gentle, refined, and sensitive. I don't think Argentinas are more feminine compared to Americans or Europeans in that regard.

As for how they dress... there's definitely a lot more variety in the US and people are much more individualistic. In Argentina everyone seems to dress pretty similar, aside from obvious social class differences. And as sleslie said, the further you get from Palermo/Recoleta, the less you'll find the 'chic' clothes and perfect salon hair. In fact, in my area, I could probably start a Gente de Carrefour website. :p

Some Argentinas may dress more sexy and put a lot of emphasis on their looks, but there's a lot more to femininity than sultriness.

I wasn't talking about people dressing business casual or better. I was talking about a general better sense of fashion even when wearing tank tops and flip flops. I mentioned a typical thing like socks and sandals (never seen here). I completely understand dressing down, I do it a lot, but as I said, dressing down is done better and people tend to match colors and make better choices here. It's the middle of the summer and while there are a lot of good things that are common practice back home that don't happen here, for the most part, Argentines are a little more aware of what they wear and if their colors clash.

Are you kidding?

The subject is broad since it says "Argentina" women and my world is a bit limited in that I stay pretty much in my own neighborhood and my own city, but I continually notice how beautiful are the women and what a sense of style they have. There are exceptions, of course, but I'd say not many. I sit on my balcony frequently and watch people pass by and I notice the Argentina women--almost all the younger women (younger than 50 perhaps) have beautiful, long hair, almost all are slender, they love scarves and there are lots of high heels, but I also see a lot of long dresses on the street. Absolutely no WalMart types here.

But I will go further, I have never seen any teenager with their pants about to fall off and their undershorts showing. But even the men in my area really look nice. Including workers on the street. And for you gals back in the States reading this because you plan to come, the men here are good looking guys. More than that their mamas and/or their daddies teach them good manners. For example, I was taking photography from a young photographer once and we would walk to Starbucks. If I were on the side toward the street I noticed he would gently take me by the shoulders and move me to the inside. They always stand back and let women go first. There is plenty wrong with Argentina, and things are not perfect here, but there are a lot of things that are admirable. In my opinion, this is one of them.
