Expat Deported At Ezeiza

Not true. It's about jobs created, not about money invested and trust me people really work it. Just ask around in recoleta.

Recoleta ? Hmmm, I was talking about the mighty US of A! Last time I enquired whether how much is needed to getting a US green card for a Nipponese to an attorney specialising on the subject, he said US has toughened and now requiring all foreign investors to cough up in to the millions to earn the US residency via "capital investment"..
Also the investor best and fastest way of geeting that venerable green card is to show how many Norte Americanos would be employed...

But to get a US residency card, aka the "green card" via investors, one needs to invest over cool -million- US green backs!

stupid people who invest million bucks to go to US. One could live like a king with a million bucks in BA for next 10 years at least if not more!

Hybrid-san, don't worry! You will have no problem getting in since you do not have a single Argentine stamp in your passport!

Oh really ? OK if you say so. So I won't have to be worried that the Argie custom/Inmmigration will let me enter the country carrying all those Sony~Apple electronics for you?

Congratulations! I was afraid you would be stuck forever in Argentina.

Thanks! :)

BAExpats is like an e-home for me though, everyone has their Google/Facebook//etc. they open whenever they log on,
mine includes BAExpats so to the dismay of some? I'm not going anywhere far from the site.

Presuming, of course, you declare it at immigration and nobody follows you home.

I don't want any iStuff - I can't afford it. Don't forget to take the Sony stuff out of the box and test it. Out of box = used = no custom problem.

That is really too bad. Two questions:

Was the immigration officer looking for what is politely known as 'baksheesh' (coima)? My friend who works at the airport told me they roll like that and I also had an unpleasant encounter of that nature at Eze.

If he had with him his numero de expediente and a copy of it demonstrating an open citizenship case, would this have happened?

What an unexpected gut stab! Sorry to hear about your friend. Hope he works it out or recovers his stuff and finds somewhere better to live.

Question then. From what I am reading in this and the other thread on this event, immigration is no longer "fooled" by the Colonia visa run technique. I wasn't aware there was anything untoward in that ... I thought that was all perfectly legal, so ... I guess not then.

What are we tourists supposed to do then? If Colonia runs are dangerous and illegal, is there no way to stay here more than 6 months legally? Is that all ending? Am I trapped in this country until I decide to leave permanently? (Not retired, but don't work here...work remotely abroad.)

1) No;
2) he was not applying for citizenship.
3) normally immigration holds on when there are citizenship cases going on.

You are not a tourist.

Apply for residency.

Apply for citizenship.

You do work here.
