Rip-Off German Hospital

Public hospitals can be good, but for facial surgery I wouldn't take the risk. A friend of mine had a cyst removed from his back a year ago and the scar it left behind was monstrous.

The back is the plastic surgeon's nightmare. The skin is very thin, there is little fat, it is very very hard to get away without scarring, no matter the surgeon's skill.

Citygirl is right on: fight the bill. Tell them simply that you cannot pay it, but you could pay $2500 which is what they would charge for a family plan. You simply do not have the money. If they don´t lower the charges, you should go to the defensa del consumidor and make a formal complaint, in other cases this has worked well and medicine in Argentina is very regulated. Don´t pay, no matter what--you will not get that money back. In Argentina they can´t really do much if you don´t pay your bills, so don´t worry, maybe send some nasty letters, but that´s it.

Well I thought that Particulares pay up front? or they bill you later?

Well I thought that Particulares pay up front? or they bill you later?

When I had surgery at the hospital Italiano lástima year they put a 30000 peso hold on my card up front and then charged after the fact. I was told that that's how they all operated (I called around)

The dog in question may not have been showing aggression; rather, it may have been defending itself. The child is probably not to blame, but the parents may be for not paying attention.

Some large dogs do well in apartments. My malamute has access to the backyard, where he enjoys chasing squirrels, but he often prefers to come indoors and sleeps for hours on end.
Squirrels? Not in Argentina.

They did bill me first but A. I had no choice other than pay as I had my bleeding toddler in my arms and would have paid 100,000 pesos at that point. And B.When I saw the price I assumed they would him to sleep first and use the theatre. When they had me hold him down in the tiny consultorio, injected him screaming with local anaesthetic and then put in three stitches, I realised I had been ripped off.

I'm really sorry you were taken like that. They obviously took advantage of the situation and your need to take care of your son. I'm thinking something has to be done. You were charged for services you weren't provided. Why not take this to facebook or something. Send it to a few argentine friends, create some outrage, we all know how our argie friends love their social networks, it might get big. Might acomplish something.

When you negotiate with hospital administration, make sure you mention that if they make you pay the bill in its entirety, that you will be going straight to defensa al consumidor.

To talk with them i think that is a waste of time. If you think they over charge (this is not clear for me as you mention that they might use cirugía plástica), then, there is a legal instituye called "lesión subjetiva": when somebody takes. Advantage you can solve it at court. However, is not enough money to do it.

Squirrels? Not in Argentina.

At my California residence, where the squirrels are a plague. He's bagged a couple, one of them after he banged on the trunk of a camellia and the rodent fell out of it.
