Violent protests in Chile: Will this spread to Argentina?

This is one of the geniuses from the Galt's Gulch scam. People invested all their money in a 'Libertarian utopia' in Chile but it was a big fraud. To his credit, he didn't see it to the end. I believe one of the fugitive scammers, Ken Johnson is hiding out in Mendoza, maybe he even reads this forum haha. There are also some of these types setting up in Acapulco and probably other parts of Latin America.

Sounds about right. A bunch of scammers peddling a morally, politically, and economically bankrupt joke. These guys are to politics/economics what spiritual healers and alternative therapies are to science and medicine .

I feel bad for the fools who are taken in by their quite obvious fallacies.

Such is life.

Thanks for sharing the info, very interesting.

Cheers!

A rioter accused of burning the subway stations is now under custody and will be tried. Left wing diputados will go to jail to visit him for support.

Oh come now. This guy posted a ton of videos (many now taken down) where he proudly expouses his bankrupt libertarian supremecist fachists ideology in spades.

Always talking about violence against his ideological enemies. How, if you see someone with a machette, you should have an automatic military style gun and shoot to kill, etc.

He then chose a day of mass left leaning protests to supposedly drive to the shooting range with his 'unloaded gun'. Who would have thought, he is then surrounded totally unprovoked and rushed by rioters and had no choice but to drive through them (charlotsville anyone?) and then quickly loads his , up till now legally secured, gun and shoots in self defence.

That's his version.

It's obviously a well thought out story, he went out looking for leftists to shoot. His cover story is blatant.

Yet another example of a white supremacist terrorist using violence against their enemies. They're a dime a dozen these days.

But ya, it's the protesters who are the real violent ones according to some narratives. I guess this libertarian guy is really a hero then?

/Facepalm.

Cheers!

Any rational person would have stayed home when there were protests going on, especially someone who is Far Right and opposed to the protestors -- UNLESS he was looking for trouble. This guy chose to make Chile his home, even renouncing his US citizenship. I suspect he thought he'd find a sympathetic environment in Chile. That would have been the case during the Pinochet years but Chile has since had left wing governments, later swinging to the right. It will be interesting to see if the courts exonerate him. Even if Piñera survives, his government may not want to intervene on behalf of this nut for fear of provoking more anger.

I agree that this man did something very wrong and should be punished but also there have been over 2000 people injured on both sides caused by a mob mentality . The government of Chile has awarded some great concessions ( that did not happen in Greece nor most countries )

To destroy your country and economy is futile as the president of Chile has backed down substantially and he was elected legally . Let him finish his mandate and then elect him out of office .
You cannot used lead bullets on people who is using his right to protest.

I agree with you on many topics but in life one must have balance and logical thinking . There have been over 2000 people injured in Chile since the protests have started . Many of these people injured were carbineros who were protecting buildings and businesses . They were injured by protesters who also commit terrible crimes at times.

I cannot support these violent protests in Chile as they have gone too far . Can Chile improve of course it can as can most other countries in the world where there is inequality . But the use of the left clapping their hands in glee in the destruction of Chile does nothing to support your cause . If Chile falls now it will be a much worse country than it is atm as its institutions, stock market , and currency will collapse .

The Pinera government has been imho concillatory and created positive changes . The left shouud look at this as a victory and now work peacefully to create a more just society . The continual protests and destruction of property must stop as it has caused irrevocable damage to Chile .

Famous chilean singer does a topless protest at the Latin Grammy awards comparing Chile to a dictatorship where rape and violence against the protesters is official policy . What do the members think about her protest?

I agree that the protests are out of control and there is no justification for destroying private property. The Cobin case that I have commented on is interesting because the assailant is an ex US citizen who came to Chile and took on Chilean citizenship, renouncing his US citizenship. He is a far right extremist gun advocate. I find it reprehensible that he has exported this culture to Chile.
