Odd how the US media is barely covering this story...

MRE's are definitely not worth smuggling in.

Lucas: I am sure if an Argentine military plane landed it the US it would be for a "tune up" having been American made.

And "USAers"? We prefer Americans. After helping win 2 World Wars and actually fighting the Nazis, (as opposed to giving them Campos, vineyards and a country to retire.....ahem, Argenina...ahem), I am pretty sure we earned it.

Better if we don't start with that, the cream of the scientific Nazi community were skimmed by US, here what we only got was the plain troops, look all the scientist they took under their wings the nuclear technology with the atomic bomb development, jets airplanes technology, rockets technology and so on, so better we don't start where USA got all that but from Nazi Germany they did not offered them land to retire and cultive but received a succulent money packet and a executive position in a corporation with a nice accommodation with all the goodies, don't you forget that....so I should go on?

You're only somewhat correct (as usual).

The US raced to snag every scientist worth his salt before the Soviets could get them.

On the other hand, Argentina raced to snag every killer possible before Israel could get them.

Hahahaha....FACT SHEET!.....because its coming with EE.UU seal of approval I must believe all it said and of course accept all as true facts, C'mon, what a joke!

I won't expect in a million years that any USAians will be with me on this, but only I'll tell them one thing, What you will do if an Argentinean military airplane land in USA in a similar situation? What do you thing your government will do?..... I know perfectly what they will do, in the best case they will kick their arses out of the country with steel cup boots and the other and more possible outcome is that they will receive full accommodation meals included in a free of charge five star hotel at Guantanamo Bay.

First of all, a military aircraft from Argentina would not make it to any USA territory let alone the forty-eight contiguous states. There isn´t enough jet fuel in Argentina. Imagine for a moment that a petrol station could sell the air force jet fuel? The air force´s pesos would most likely be stolen or disappear before the jet could even queue up. This also of course assumes that the fueling station would be open and wouldn´t run out. As for the dollars that the aircraft would need for landing fees, that money would be stolen in transit somewhere between the plane and the Pink House. So in all probability, an Argentina military aircraft would never make it off the ground let alone enter U.S. airspace.

Secondly, if by chance a military aircraft from Argentina did arrive in the USA, there is a slight chance that the Air and Space Museum might be interested in adding the aircraft to some collection. In reality, the plane would end up in an aircraft boneyard because donating it to even a good third world cause would be an insult.

Well okay, I can go along with that scenario for an average Yankee state of mind that's fair enough, forget about the military airplane from Argentina, say it's from Brazil or Venezuela what do you think it will happen?...bloody F@#$%&* the same....all the way to Guantanamo Bay.

Lucas,

On the one hand we have a Twitter accusation from a member of the government of Argentina that is vague and devoid of any real substance. Yet you choose to believe it because it comes from a member of an administration you obviously admire.

On the other hand we have a detailed reaction from the government of the United States that you choose to believe is a lie because you obviously hate America.

Get back to us when Argentina refutes the State Department Fact Sheet with facts rather than inflammatory "See what the Yankees are up to" rhetoric released via Twitter.

Believe it or not many Americans acknowledge US foreign policy in Latin America has not always been pristine. But we are also aware that certain Latin American leaders leverage our past sins for their own advantage as a way of consolidating power by appealing to nationalistic pride. Morales and Chavez top the current list. It is worrisome to me to see Christina cozying up to these two...One wonders if she has in mind such anti=democratic actions such as suspension of freedom of the press and declaring herself president for life, as these two have done.

Dear dr__dawggy,

Lest put this straight, first I don't hate as you put it, the US itself or any Yankee folk by the way, what I don't like is HYPOCRISY and the successive administrations in US government which produced and still producing so much misery and pain around the globe prove it, but more precisely the pain and misery that they produced in this part of the world, supporting military juntas and terrible dictators invading countries with democratically elected governments because they were not aliened ideologically to them THAT'S what I hate, the hypocrisy to say we are the best, the more compassionate and rightful people on earth a thing which obviously they are not, that sense of vacuous, sterile and empty righteousness proclaiming to the world we are good guys, we are better than God...that is what I hate, do you understand?

When Bush was here in 2005 for the ALCA agreement which was a fiasco, thanks God, Kirchner explained to Bush that what was necessary in the region is a Marshall Plan, Bush jumped from his chair (bit of emphasis here) and said No!, No that's a crazy Democrats idea, the better and prosperous times for the US was when a war was running amok somewhere in the world and we were involved in it....so for the Bush administration and I'm sure for any administration who did and will run the country in the future that will be the goal to follow, doesn't matter who are in power be the Democrats, Republicans or whoever WAR was and still the best business to pop up and keep healthy the Good Ol' US of America hopping happily along...war is everything and a necessity to grow prosperous according to the Bush administration and probably for any future administrations as well.

Please don't take my word for it, just check backwards any administration in the US history and tell me a period were there wasn't any war which they weren't involved or they not created just to keep yankeeland growing happy along, of course never there was to be war to be fought near or in they territory, no sir, in someone else land, yes by all means.

On the Morales and Chaves front what they are doing is just fighting (still) for their country independence after 200 years from domination of raw colonialism European or American which actually still alive and well be by imposing economic pressure or by means of forced or covered intervention.

So Morales, Chaves and now Christina and before Kirchner were and are bad for USA, but nor were Augusto Pinochet, Fulgencio Batista, Rafael Videla, Leopoldo Galtieri, Anastasio Somoza García, Carlos Castillo Armas, Oswaldo López Arellano, Anastasio Somoza Debayle, Omar Torrijos, Efraín Ríos Montt, Manuel Noriega, Alfredo Stroessner, Humberto Castelo Branco, René Barrientos, Artur da Costa e Silva, Emílio Garrastazu Médici, Hugo Banzer, Juan María Bordaberry, Ernesto Geisel, João Baptista de Oliveira Figueiredo, Luis García Meza Tejada, etc, etc, etc.

Of course none of them were dictators when they were holding power US never say a thing to ostracize them to the world as long they can be utilized to do business at the back of the people of those countries they wont say anything, worse still they will help them to hang in power, recent example Egypt's Mubarak., once overthrown by another dictator or military junta then they became instantly and by a magic US touch in dictators, the Good Ol' USA will say, we don't know you but of course not before, how come?....unashamed HYPOCRISY that is what I hate folks.

Dear Lucas. Let's put it to you straight, so that there be no room for long rants that miss the point.

1. The Argentine Government made rather sweeping claims about this incident.
2. The State Department released a fairly detailed accounting of said incident, including a list of the alleged contraband in question.
3. If this account and list is to be believed, it would appear that Argentina has, in the best case, gotten into a tizzy over something truly minor, or, alternatively, has deliberately manafactured an incident. I will not go into potential motivations here.
4. There has been nothing from Argentine authorities in the way of rebuttal, refudiation :)D) or dispute regarding anything on this list.

Agree, or Disagree? If you Disagree, kindly keep your fountains of wisdom on topic.
