The deal with Argentine men and their "girl" friends

Sure, Argentina, the U.S., the U.K., and everywhere else have different opinions regarding what is moral and what isn't. But I'm from the U.S. and my wife is from Argentina, and I can assure you that neither of us would be even close to okay with our daughter dating a 30-year-old when she is 16 (she's 4 now and I pray to God this is never an issue).

No matter where she is from, a 16-year-old (or less) does not have any business with a 30-year-old. I realize that many 16-year-olds are smarter than many 30-year-olds, but come on . . . I cannot believe some people are actually defending this vile practice.

Most Argentine teenagers I've encountered are very sheltered and immature for their age. Between that and lack of access to abortion, why would any 30-year-old guy even want to go there? The Argentine women I've met are generally beautiful and excellent conversationalists, but at 15, they're still spoiled children. I just can't see the attraction.

To deter sexual abuse. Maybe there are some cases where "true love" is involved and nothing too bad is going on, but what about sexual abuse?

In my eyes, stopping a few "real" couples from dating is a small price to pay for stopping sexual predators. Most 16-year-olds are not mature enough to realize that they are being taken advantage of.

You really are a disgusting person with your comments about Abortion . Do you have any feelings as a woman or are you a child murderer who believes that abortion is a human right .

Argentina has too much abortion and is a national disgrace with 40 % of live births aborted . For me this is murder simple......

True, but a 16-year-old 'soul' is still cognitively and physically developing. Think back to when you were 15 or 16, and how much life experience you lacked, compared to 10 or even 5 years later. Even 16-year-olds who are "very mature for their age" are still just kids, especially in Argentina (where parents often house, feed, and financially support their kids into adulthood.)

As a matter of fact, my partner is 16 and a half years older than I, but I was 27 years old when we met. I already had a college degree, had started on my career, been through a couple of serious relationships, was financially independent. So for two adults, of equal maturity and at the same place in life, age is a non-factor. But when one is an adult of childbearing age and one can't legally drive yet? Yeah, kinda creepy.

First of all, women are not a race, we are a gender. Second of all, there are about a million degrees between "abortion as birth control" and "an irresponsible teenager getting knocked up." If you think that any 16-year-old who gets pregnant as a result of ignorance, irresponsibility, or pressure should be forced to become a mother, instead of having the choice to go to college, build a career, and start a family when SHE feels ready, than you are far more of a woman-hater than you could ever accuse me of being.
